Part of what makes us beautiful are our unique traits. Some of us have brown eyes, while some have blue eyes. Some of us have spiral curls, and some have silky straight hair.
Whatever your hair type is, it's worth knowing. And once you've determined your hair type, it helps you make the most of your unique features.
Why is hair type important?
Determining the type of hair you have is important. This can make a difference in your hair care routine. For example, people with curly hair may be harming themselves by using hair products that are more suitable for people with straight hair, causing frizz or breakage.
People with thin hair sometimes don't need a lot of moisturizer because too much moisture in the form of conditioner can make their hair feel heavy and greasy. Even among curly-haired goddesses there are some differences! Depending on your curling style, curly hair needs its own type of care.

Discovering the type of hair we have is not difficult! There are several main hair types, along with subtypes. It seems a bit overwhelming to find different hair types. What is type 2A hair? And how does hair texture work?
What is the difference between hair type and hair texture?
Hair type and texture should not be confused! There are differences along with some commonalities. There are four types of hair including:
Straight hair
Straight hair is strong and one of the more resilient hair types, usually with low porosity, wet hair and dry longer. Straight hair is difficult to curl because sebum easily spreads from the scalp to the hair shaft. Straight hair is also the most greasy, so it's important to avoid a build-up of sebum.
Wavy hair
Wavy hair tends to be more acceptable when styled with heat, with an S-shaped structure. Wavy hair can be prone to frizz due to its coarser texture. Serums are indispensable here! One of the advantages of wavy hair is that it is very versatile.
Curly hair
Curly hair will have a bold S or Z shape. Climate can have a big impact on how curly hair responds to shape, resulting in frizz. Curly hair will need more care because it is very easily damaged. Dry shampoo works well for people with curly hair because they should avoid washing their hair often. Over-washed curls can strip away their natural oils and cause breakage.
African curly hair
African curly hair has a very tightly coiled texture, often with a tight spiral. This type of hair is very fragile and prone to shrinkage when wet because it has less cuticle than other hair types. High porosity is common in people with curly hair. Hair masks and deep conditioning products can be very beneficial for curly hair!
